A brand new bicycle parking bay is now available at the Kampong Ampat cluster. The bicycle parking bay was converted from a previously empty open space and can accommodate up to 54 bicycles comfortably. The new bicycle bay was completed in December 2012.
The new facility has brought greater convenience to tenants who cycle to work at the cluster, effectively resolved unauthorised bicycle parking issues and keep fire escape routes free of obstructions.
The current utilisation rate for the newly constructed bicycle bay is at an encouraging level of 85%. Many of our tenants’ employees have given positive feedback about the new bicycle bay, commenting that it is very useful for them as they can now secure their bicycles at a proper designated place.
“Riding a bicycle is not only good exercise, it is also great for the environment as it is pollution-free, helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. MIT is happy to support the drive to provide a greener environment,” said Serene Tam, Asset Manager for Kampong Ampat.
The Kampong Ampat cluster, also referred to as KA Foodlink, is a six-storey dedicated food facility designated by the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore. It is suitable for companies in the dry to semi-wet food industries for packaging, catering and food manufacturing. The cluster is located near a mature residential estate and is accessible via major expressways and public transport.
